More than 26 years ago in the Greater Toronto area there was a growing need for security and monitoring for both home and business purposes. And that is how a.p.i. alarm came into existence.

This Philosophy is embedded in the very foundation of a.p.i alarm and dates back to 1983 when our owner, Howard Garr, President and CEO, decided to turn his business skills to Residential and Commercial Security.

The security of Residential and Commercial properties in the community became paramount following his own personal experiences with security lapses in his existing business venture and at home.

After immersing himself in security and acquiring expertise, he was ready to launch an Emergency Response Facility to meet the needs of the community. This led to the purchase of Thornhill Answering and Monitoring Service. The name was immediately changed to a.p.i alarm Inc. reflecting a desire to build Canada's Largest Privately Owned and Operated Full Service Security Company providing response Nation Wide.

Due to our overwhelming success, a.p.i alarm Inc. has grown rapidly over the last two decades, currently protecting over one million Canadians from Coast to Coast.

Certified by the Underwriters' Laboratories of Canada as well as a proud member of CANASA (The Canadian National Alarm Association), a.p.i alarm Inc. has also been influential in the development of False Alarm Reduction Programs working with Police Forces across Canada as well as in the United States.
